On April 16th, 2013, the Global Health Knowledge Collaborative (GHKC) will host the Global Health Knowledge Management Share Fair: Opportunities and Challenges in Washington, DC.

Designed as a full-day symposium for global health and development knowledge management (KM) practitioners, the purpose of the Share Fair is to advance the science and practice of KM by increasing access to and use of relevant knowledge to improve program performance. During the Share Fair, KM experts will facilitate workshops and hands-on sessions, which will allow participants to share experiences and spark creativity and innovation in KM. Sessions will also focus on sharing innovative tools, techniques, lessons learned, and KM methods.

After an opening plenary, breakout sessions will begin; participants can choose one morning session and one afternoon session upon registration. Morning breakout sessions will focus on monitoring and evaluation, KM in the field, KM lessons from non-health sectors, and the Network Mapping (Net-Map) approach. Afternoon sessions will highlight social media, communities of practice, the intersection of KM and health systems strengthening, health needs assessments, and eLearning. The Share Fair will also include a "Marketplace" area which will allow organizations to share their own KM tools and best practices with other participants, discuss the latest KM tools, and make connections.

One of the main goals of this event is to exchange ideas – and we also want to be able to incorporate the voices of our colleagues around the world that may not be able to attend in person. We also plan to share ideas generated during the Share Fair creatively – and in a way that will be useful to a range of KM practitioners.

We welcome everyone to attend the Global Health Knowledge Management Share Fair: Opportunities and Challenges – seasoned KM practitioners, those brand new to KM, and everyone in-between. We hope to see you there!
