Q&A: GHKC Blog Posting Guidelines
Q: Do you accept unsolicited blog posts?
A: Yes! We are happy to consider blog posts. Please send your submission to GHKC@k4health.org for consideration.
Q: What should I write about?
A: The GHKC blog is geared toward individuals practicing knowledge management (KM) in the field of global health. Consider writing about a KM technique or activity you’ve tried; a story from the field that illustrates the value of KM; a KM success or failure; your thoughts on a recent study, report or event.
Q: What formats do you accept?
A: We accept a variety of formats including first person commentaries and analyses, field stories or case studies; ‘how to’ posts; interviews; photo or video blog posts; reviews of books or events, and many more.
Q: How long should it be?
A: Ideal blog posts are between 300 and 800 words. Posts longer than 1,200 words will not be accepted.
Q: What style should I use?
A: The best blog posts are not particularly formal and engage readers. Use active voice, avoid jargon and acronyms, and use specific examples to illustrate your points. The GHKC blog generally follows the AP style.
Q: Will you edit my blog post?
A: The GHKC does not provide formal editorial services for blog authors, so please send us your most polished work. We do however reserve the right to edit for clarity or grammar and to revise titles or headings.
Q: Can I cross-post from your blog?
A: Yes! We highly encourage cross-posting our blog posts as long as you acknowledge GHKC as the source and provide a hyperlink.
Q: I’ve already published my blog post somewhere else, will you cross-post it?
A: Yes! We’re happy to cross-post relevant posts from other organizations or entities. Please indicate where your piece has already been published when you submit it and ensure that you have the right to publish it elsewhere.
Q: How do I submit it?
A: Please submit completed blog posts to GHKC@k4health.org, along with an author photo/bio.
